School Rules
All group courses, will follow the Ticino calendar and school holidays.
Registration with the corresponding payment must be made at the beginning of the course, however on request, it may be divided into two or three installments with the addition of a CHF 25 surcharge for each installment. In the event of late payment an additional penalty of CHF 30 is charged if late by 5 days, CHF 50 exceeding 15 days, and CHF 100 for 30 days of delay from the due date. Enrollment guarantees a limited number of places, so if an enrollee withdraws after the start of the school year, he or she will still have to pay the full cost of the annual tuition.
Selected days and courses can never be changed, except for special documented needs. Only at the time of signing the participation form, which must be duly filled out, signed and returned to the secretary’s office, and also of payment, will it be possible to guarantee a place in the limited class. Classes will be formed with a minimum of 3 participants to a maximum of 8.
The group courses offered for children ages 6 and up require a basic requirement for admission to the courses. They must have acquired the first educational skills, namely that they can read and write.
For all one-on-one and/or semi-private lessons (min. 10 lessons of 60 min.), payment must be made at the beginning of the lessons. The lessons are to be used no later than 10 weeks from the date of purchase, in case of late payment the same penalties as for the above courses will be applied. Both courses and individual lessons, already billed and/or paid for, are partially refundable, only for serious, proven and justified reasons. Only for individual lessons and not for groups, cancellations are accepted only if cancelled one day in advance (24 hours) by e-mail or telephone. Otherwise they will be duly billed.
Any behavioral problems of the children or youth, which may affect the course performance, should be reported promptly at the time of registration by the families or their guardians. In case of failure to notify, the school reserves the right to re-evaluate the enrollment itself. All information provided will be treated confidentially.
Missed classes in all courses for both adults and children and youth are not recoverable and do not entitle to refunds .
In order to ensure uniformity of courses TESL will conduct a level test at the beginning of the year . Classes will have a duration depending on level and age of at least 60 minutes. For adult courses, teaching materials must be procured in person within the first week of enrollment; for copyright reasons, photocopying of teaching materials at the school will not be possible after this deadline.
TESL applies a discount for annual courses of 5 percent to every second, third and fourth registrant who is part of the same household.
CANCELLATION: Courses for adults: no cancellation. Junior courses: five weeks in advance (see regulations above).
For copyright reasons, photocopying of teaching materials at the school will not be possible after this deadline.
